Happy Halloween

So this was our first Halloween in our new house.  I was super excited for trick or treaters!
And guess how many we got....t..h..r..e..e..

3!!!! I didn't expect many, but come on!  I rushed home, and put some skeletons on the door, put orange/purple lights around the front door, had a coffin full of candy!  I am sure all 3 appreciated it! HA!

But it was still a fun night since my friend Aimee came over to celebrate one of our favorite holidays.

She brought us witch hats and some yummy pear hard cider.  I made us a big salad and a meatball pizza.  I lit a fire, we chatted, I whined about no one coming to the door, then we kicked Colin off the couch and found Hocus Pocus on the tv and settled into a small screen standard def viewing of the the 1993 Halloween Classic.

I said it was 10 years old, Aimee reminded me that is was 20 years old! How am I old enough to remember a 20 year old movie?????  I remembered the scene where they go to the rich girl's house and their foyer is big enough for a table...I guess I dreamed about large foyers even as a child.  I think you really "made it" in life if you have a foyer big enough for a table!

Enjoy the Halloween Shenanigans!  Till next year! Perhaps I can get 5 trick or treaters next year! We might as well give out the full sized bars!

Fall around the House

Fall is my favorite and this is our first fall in our new house! Yay!  I didn't go crazy with the decor, but I put out a few Halloween friends and a few gourds to make it feel like the season inside.  Enjoy!

Halloween Cards

So I know most of you saw these since you received them, but I still wanted to share my Halloween cards with you.

I printed out skeletons and skulls, got some Halloween stamps and some Halloween paper:

I made a few versions:

I inked up my skull stamp for the envelopes:

And I busted out some confetti:

I stamped the envelopes and portioned out the confetti:

Now all I had to do was put the confetti in and mail them out! Happy Halloween!

Cookie Failure

I wasn't going to share my lastest failure, but that word is in my title for a reason. Plus I think the outcome is funny!

So I saw on Marthastewart.com finger cookies and without looking at a recipe, I decided to make them, foolishly I had some pretty high hopes.

from: Martha Stewart

I got the pre-made dough to save on time.
I rolled them into fingers:

I added knuckle lines and nail beds:

And this is how they came out of the oven!!! HAHAHA

They spread out like crazy and looked nothing like fingers. Bakers, help me! Would that have happened if I made real dough and didn't cheat? Below are two recipes for these, perhaps next year I will follow them.

Oh well, They still tasted good!

Here is the Martha's recipe: http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/ladies-fingers-are-easy
And here is another person's recipe: http://www.britta.com/HW/HWr.html#fingers

A Halloween Night Out

Halloween Night I had a mini party before we headed to the bars for some fun and World Series watching! : )

Some eyeball wine? Yes Please!

Some eyeball candy? Yes Please!

So not funny!!!!!!!!!!!

As all going out nights this fall, some Yankee's in the background:

I was a Halloween Princess, the costume is really in the skirt which you can't see. It was spider webs! Please note the eyeball in my wine!

Creepy Paper Mache Friends

So I forgot to share with you my favorite Halloween Friends...my creepy paper mache friends! I think the pumpkin girl is my most favorite holiday decoration ever. When I take her out of my Halloween Tupperware I whisper to her "I have missed you." I got them at Home Goods a few years ago.
