Welcome Spring

I feel like it just stopped snowing and all of a sudden there are dandelions in my yard! haha  I have been pretty busy and stressed so I took a trip to one of my favorite garden centers last weekend to unwind, stroll around, soak up some early spring.  Then yesterday I had meet a client near my other favorite garden center...so I decided to stroll around there too!  Last weekend I stayed strong and didn't buy anything, this weekend no so much..haha But I didn't get a lot so it is a-ok!

Please enjoy some photos from my recent de-stressing nursery strolls : )

New Lights

Since we got back from vacation in February, we have been bustling around doing a lot of work to our house, buying things for the house, updating the house etc.. We got a lot done and now we are taking a nice long break. Not there isn't more to do, but our bank accounts need a break!( And I bet our Dad's need a break from helping too! haha)

Although this break happens to coincide with Spring, so it might end up being more of a 'switch gears to outside' than a break....we have tax returns right? : )

Although we are in break mode, I still have a number of updates to post about, so I'll keep them coming.  Today I would like to share with you our new light fixtures!  The pictures leave a bit to be desired since I forgot to get before pictures and I think most of them were on my phone. haha
But I still wanted to share.

#1 light fixture to replace was the fluorescent box over the kitchen sink! Fluorescent Box!!! Sinfully Ugly!  I spend way too much time dreaming up lovely and expensive replacement options, but when all said and done, we just got a simple pendent from Lowe's.  It gets the job done and Colin said perhaps in the future I can get my swoony gooseneck light. : )

#2 and #3 were the light fixtures in the hallway to our bedroom and the bottom of the stairs.  Neither were particularly offensive, but we still wanted a nice update.  We went with simple sleek shade pendents from Home Depot.  Again, I had some fancier ones in mind, but these do a great job of updating the space and making the hall and stair case a bit more modern. AND more importantly we got rid of one 'boob' light...so many more to go though! haha

As you can see the ceiling was last painted around the old fixtures, so we will need to address that at some point.

Stay tuned for the updated power room and laundry room! : )

Cast Iron Urns and some Spring Color

Back in the late fall when we bought our house, my boss had given me a very generous gift card to a cute home and garden store.  I have wanted cast iron urns for a long time, so I figured this was the perfect time.  I was a good girl and saved my gift card for months and month until I noticed the  planters back outside of the store.  And last weekend I headed over and got my urns!
So Classy! So Lovely!

They actually don't hold a great volume of soil, so they probably aren't the most practical of planters, but that is fine by me.  I got 2 for either side of the front stoop.  They look a little random right now, but once we get a new walk and some new landscape, they will fit right in!

I know these spring plantings are not mind blowing, haha but still nice to have some color at the front door.  The urns the guys planted at work, are way better, perhaps I'll snap some pictures of those for you too. : )

String Lights

The space between the house and the garage will evenually become a patio. (We currently have my old patio set chilling on the lawn...Classy!!!)  Since our main entertaining space will be between two structures it will be perfect for lights! YAY!!! I had wanted to do something similar to this at my old rental, but it would have taken putting poles in the ground, and I never wanted to actually tackle that.

Wouldn't it be amazing if our yard was as nice as this picture above??? Amazing, fireplace, outdoor tv, lovely furniture! Yes Please!

So now I just need to shop for the actual ones I should buy.  I just need to look around at lengths, amount of bulbs, price..etc.  And I want to make sure we get heavy duty ones that will hold up and I can leave out all summer.

Ill keep you posted one what I actually end up buying in case you want to copy. And I will be sure to invite everyone over to dine under the lights once we are all set up!

Busy Spring

I know I said I was getting better at blogging more often, (and I was for a while there) so sorry I have not been.  Spring has sprung and all I have been doing is working working working!  But I do have a lot I want to blog about, so I am going to try and work on a few posts today.

In the mean time enjoy some Witch Hazel! : )
