When Alexis moved out I got a new kitchen cart for the corner. But once my Dad put it together and it was in the kitchen I decided I liked it as an island. I already blogged about this-click here for a reminder! : ) But I needed something in the corner, so good bye island. I wanted to get a new cart for months, but I was trying to be good with my money (haha funny right?) but for christmas I got a Target gift card so I FINALLY got another cart and I have my (mini) island back! Yay!!!
Plus the new cart is so much more functional in the corner than the "island" was, it is easier to put stuff on and access.
I documented the switch since I built the cart myself! No Dad, No Brother! I did it myself! Granted I wouldn't actually put a heavy microwave on it since I did it myself, but it hold oils and mugs and paper towels just fine! : )
Here is the "island" in the corner where it was all fall:

(yes that is a mouse trap)
Then this is what I got from Target:

YOU NEEDED TOOLS!!! Crazy!!!! But I found some! Thanks Dad!

(oh man, my hair is so flat, this was when it was like 18 degrees out!)

The end result! SO much better!!!! It might not look as nice, but it is so much more functional! This black cart is so much easier to put stuff on than the other one was. I might spray paint it white or silver, but to be honest the black isn't really bothering me anymore.

AND....I get my mini island back!!! Yay! Love it!!!! So nice to have when cooking! I used it this morning to make some soup! (chicken veggie) I am going to paint the bottom and put a towel rack on it, but who knows when that will happen!
the black looks nice with your paper towel holder and knife handles. :-)
ReplyDeletehaha thanks! i thought i would hate the black, but i honestly don't notice it anymore.
ReplyDeletei agree with nora, i think the black actually blends in in this case : )
